Yes, we had self-driving cars, but the laws hadn't figured out how to permit them.

When I was born, people read books on paper!

No, they didn't read themselves aloud. Paper didn't have speakers.

When my father was born, planes had propellers AND human pilots.

Imagine an old-fashioned tilt-rotor in horizontal flight. That's a propeller.
